Hi there! My name is Suzie Frischmann and this is my virtual residency. Welcome!
Since I like to poke my nose into all sorts of creative adventures, I created this website as a portfolio.
With creating my little enterprise, Leguanworld, a childhood dream came true. I’ve always been making things and I always knew that this was what I wanted to do.
This is why I chose the name ‘Leguanworld’ for my shop. I made this name up when I was little and only knew a few words of English. ‘Leguan’ in Hungarian means iguana, and, as a little girl and a growing up young woman, I was totally crazy about iguanas. (I still love them!)
After finishing my studies in Hungary and moving to England for a year, I’ve decided to go travelling. Very romantically I met my boyfriend on a Greek island, on an organic olive farm where we were both volunteering – and I found myself spending the next 4 years on the road with him.
Since I was living out of a backpack and I just couldn’t imagine my life without making things, friendship bracelets proved to be the ideal choice. I only needed to carry around a small bag of threads, which are light and not fragile, a few safety pins and a pair of small scissors.
I can proudly tell you that I’ve been tying knots at the oddest places, roadsides and transportation devices – and that I’ve been selling my bracelets on streets, squares, bazaars and entrepreneur shops all around, in many different countries. This was a great way of supporting myself to a certain extend.
Slowly but surely I started to create my own patterns, more and more intricate ones. Since I learnt how to make friendship bracelets from a book, writing the patterns down was not a problem. Soon I opened my Etsy shop, which is also called Leguanworld, and I’m still happily running and expanding it.
Another passion of mine, the felt animal patterns also come from a childhood favorite: making colorful felt balls and 2 dimensional animals. I couldn’t follow this passion when I was travelling, but every time when I had gone home for a few weeks, I picked up my needle and got back to stitching.
What about drawings and visual art? Well, as far as I can remember, I’ve always loved pens and pencils. When I was 6, I got a set of Derwent pastel pencils as a Christmas present from my parents. This box of pencils was full of magic and inspiration… Later on I went to Waldorf school, the first one in Hungary, where my artistic side got stronger and I was encouraged to make things. Drawing is one of those things that I truly love to do, and I always go back to it.
Photography is quite a new thing in my life. Of course, I’ve been taking a lot of pictures during our travels, but it’s very new to me to go out there and try to look at the world with a totally different eye. Since I just love urban exploration, right now my favorite topic is abandoned buildings, spiced up with some extra colors or new color schemes.
Most of my works which are available online can be found on the following platforms for purchasing, downloading, or just viewing and exploring:

In the past 2 years my partner and I have been living and working in southern Greece, at the very end of Europe. Since life is a funny, constantly changing thing, right now we are in the process of relocating to Hungary and deciding about our future path. I’m not sure about what’s next, but I know that it’ll be a new adventure!
I hope you’ll like what you see on this website. Should you have any questions, comments, or if you’d just like to chat, don’t hesitate to contact me.
